Core Function: Habitat for Humanity International’s strategy for market development and housing finance in Asia Pacific (AP) calls for an expanded role in market approaches to housing improvement for low income communities. The Senior Manager – Financial Inclusion will provide leadership, management, and oversight of programs to expand Habitat’s work with housing market actors in Nepal. The position requires working with the senior management of Habitat for Humanity Nepal and the private sector firms in country requiring exceptional interpersonal and consulting skills.
This position plays a key role in ensuring appropriate financial inclusion strategies and planning processes at national level are aligned with Habitat’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter’s (TCIS) regional and global practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Project Management: Design and implement initiatives using Habitat’s Terwilliger Center For Innovation in Shelter (TCIS) toolkit, including market research, product development/refinement, pilot testing, and monitoring and evaluation services;
• Manage and train consultants to provide technical services to financial institutions working in the affordable housing sector;
• Partnership Development: Support TCIS regional staff in partnership development effort partnership development efforts. Collaborate with Habitat Nepal National Director, Resource Development and Programs Department to procure contracts and funds necessary to expand affordable housing finance solutions in the country.
• Manage and develop relationships in country with key stake holders in the microfinance, social and development finance institutions.
• Conduct market scanning exercise of various player’s involved in the affordable housing sector from financial inclusive and value chain perspective
Knowledge and Skills:
Technical Skills: (Required)
• Microfinance – Experience of working with Microfinance institution in operations, marketing or product development. Knowledge of housing microfinance is preferred
• Project Management – Demonstrated ability to define projects and initiatives and monitor implementation for effective realization of intended benefits and outcomes; Lead a network; Manage project budgets; and Deliver reports on time.
• Training skills – Capacity to lead training sessions, and the creation of training session materials. Good people skills with the ability to communicate cross-culturally and work in teams.
• English Language Proficiency – The ability to speak, understand and write fluently in English. Fluency in one major Asian language would also be an advantage.
Preferred:
• Identifies and analyzes situations and/or issues, considers options, develops and decides on solutions, recommends and/or implements and monitors appropriate solutions.
• Works well in teams with a preference for transparency and collegial decision-making with an attitude to learn and share knowledge
• Balances the needs and interests of various stakeholders, internal and external, while determining priorities and allocates time and resources effectively.
• Ability to think globally/regionally and look at the macro, strategic issues to inform strategy choices and management process.
Beneficial but not required:
• Consulting – Demonstrated ability to negotiate and deliver projects for clients on time and on budget. Experience presenting to clients and developing support materials including slide decks, presentations, hand-outs, information sheets, tables, charts, and graphics.
• Capacity to write and oversee writing of technical proposals for grants and/or contracts.
• Housing – Understanding of the trends in low income housing and housing finance in emerging economies in the Asia-Pacific region.
Understanding of affordable housing products, value chain, services, and financial mechanisms for low-income groups is desirable.
• Understanding of Habitat International current ministry and operations will be preferred.
Education Qualification and Professional Experience:
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in economics, business, finance, international development or related field.
• A Master’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum five years of experience in microfinance, housing finance or inclusive finance related business with progressively increasing responsibility; Experience developing and/or managing projects; Experience working with/advising senior management and boards of directors; Experience related to housing strongly preferred; Asia experience strongly preferred; Sales experience is a plus.


Position: Program Quality Manager

Field Visits: 30% travel to project areas
Core Function: The Program Quality Manager is responsible for leadership and oversight for data-driven project monitoring and evaluation efforts of Habitat for Humanity’s reconstruction efforts in Nepal. Moreover, the role will also be responsible for managing the project’s M&E Plan, develop relevant M&E tools, and provide technical training and guidance to the project team and partners. S/he will also lead the monitoring of data collection, collation, storage, analysis, and reporting ensuring that data is audit worthy and incorporated into program reports for submission to Donors.
This role is focused on supporting the program and project managers to deliver high quality programming, enhancing Habitat Nepal’s staff capacity to contribute to our outcomes, and Habitat Nepal’s strategy in Nepal. The manager will work closely with the existing program team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as technical lead in the design of project activities (baseline/end line surveys, midterm reviews, project evaluations and program evaluations).
• Lead the development of relevant M& E tools and platforms, and provide M & E specific technical training, mentoring, and coaching to the project team and partners.
• Develop strong monitoring and evaluation data collection and analysis systems to ensure that program interventions are effective. This requires working closely with GIS-Database Expert in preparing information/reporting products.
• Lead the development and execution of the final project M& E Plan. Contribute to providing feedback to the program evaluation and baseline reports and donor reports.
• Lead and maintain a knowledge management system for the project, across all project components and partners.
• Support the Program Director and program team staff by contributing to the design, planning, monitoring and evaluation of grant- funded projects and programs.
• Ensure that lesions learned from monitoring and evaluation activities are integrated into the knowledge base Habitat for Humanity International programs.
• Understand grant requirements and support program and project managers to liaise with implementing partners to ensure that monitoring systems are well-designed.
• Support program staff and senior management to use data to make informed and timely decisions related to program implementation.
• Support program and project managers in high quality project implementation at all stages from initial research through to completion.
• Update information to different metric tools as requested by regional office and headquarter.
• Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel in particular for data analysis and visualization.
• Demonstrated ability to articulate technical information clearly and effectively and in flexible and adaptive programming
• Proven written and oral presentation skills in English
Education Qualification and Professional Experience:
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related field
• A Master’s Degree preferred.
• At least 5 years of working experience in monitoring, evaluation and research methods with increasing levels of responsibility in Nepal
• Experience in monitoring and evaluation work for in large, complex, and multifaceted development activities
